COVID-19 update

We have missed “business as usual,” and boy, have we missed all of you! Firstly, we would like to say THANK YOU! to each of you who have supported us with your curbside pickup orders for the past weeks. We would not have made it this far without your support! While we are anxious to reopen for dine-in service, we have decided to wait a bit longer to reopen our dining room. We feel we need a little extra time to prepare our dining room and to properly train our staff so that we can provide our customers with a safe, sanitary dining atmosphere.

Things will be a little different for awhile:

  • We will only be using disposable dishes, and our seating capacity will be much less than it used to be.
  • We will be accepting all forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, and local checks.
  • We will still be providing curbside pickup for customers who are not ready to dine in, and those customers will still be limited to phone payments only.
  • If you’d like to order take-out and pay with cash, that’s okay! You’ll just need to come in to pick up your order like you used to do.
  • For those dining in with us, your server will take payment at the table rather than you paying at the register. We are doing this to keep you at a safe distance from other customers.
  • Our beverages will no longer be self-served. Instead, your server will take your drink order and bring you beverages along with any condiments you may need.
  • Our servers will look a bit different also. They will be wearing masks and gloves while serving you.
  • You will not be given a menu when you are seated for now. We will have QR codes on each table that you can simply scan with the camera on your phone to pull up a digital copy of our menu. How cool is that! (For any of our senior diners or if you simply insist on a physical menu, we will be happy to provide you with one that we have sanitized and will sanitize after your use.)
  • Each table, chair, and booth will be sanitized after a party leaves so that the next party will have a clean, sanitary place to enjoy their meal.
  • We will not be taking any reservations for the foreseeable future; our dining room will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • If our dining room is full when you arrive, we ask that you please be patient and wait outside for a table to become available.
  • We will not be able to accommodate any parties larger than 6 people.
  • We kindly ask that you please keep your visit with us at Burke Perk to one hour or less. We are only permitted to allow a fraction of our usual number of patrons at one time, so please be considerate and allow us to serve another customer once you have finished your meal. Also for this reason, we will only be serving coffee beverages to go unless you are having one with your meal.
  • Due to issues throughout the world with supply chain, we are unfortunately not going to have some of our menu items. Sometimes, there is simply nothing we can do about this, so we do ask for your patience and understanding.
  • Hand sanitizer for customer use will be available at two stations in our dining room.
  • We are working to bring our full staff back, but a few will not be able to rejoin our team for a bit longer due to compromising health situations. Because of having less staff, we have had to adjust our business hours, and we will continue operating with these hours for awhile. Our hours of operation will be M-F lunch from 11am-2pm and M-F dinner from 5pm-8pm.
  • We will be following strict guidelines regarding our staff and their health; each staff member’s temperature will be monitored at each shift, and any staff members exhibiting any cold-like symptoms will not be permitted to work until they are cleared by a doctor. These measures are in addition to the PPE we will be requiring all staff members to wear at all times.

We ask that you please be considerate of our staff and other fellow customers when you dine with us. Please do not infringe on others’ personal space; this is difficult for us to imagine at Burke Perk! We love to see our customers visit with one another and talk and hug…we’re all Southern, so it’s going to be difficult to restrict ourselves. However, we must do so for the safety and well-being of each other. Most importantly: if you are not feeling well, have a fever, or have been ill within the past 14 days, or if you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days, you will not be permitted to enter our facility. We would love to have you come back and visit us when you are well and not at risk of exposing others.

The only way we can stay open and continue to serve our community in any capacity (dine-in or curbside) is if our staff members stay well, so please be kind and considerate of the restrictions we are enforcing. Burke Perk has enjoyed being a part of Downtown Waynesboro for almost 10 years, and we hope to be here a whole lot longer. We love filling your bellies and hearing your laughter, so please help us keep our community safe and well!
